"Protozoans or animal-like protists are unicellular eukaryotic organisms without tissues or organs, existing singly or in colonies of a few to many individuals. Protozoa comes from the Greek word "proto" meaning first and "zoon" meaning animals, which shows that early scientists already had some ideas of the possibility that the metazoans originated from the protozoans."
